Most people think of a bulking phase as a time to eat whatever they want whenever they want, and this is true if you are going for a "dirty" bulk. We like to classify bulking into two types: clean and dirty. To decide which you want to do, you have what you want your outcome to be. A clean bulk is striving for a still mostly chiseled but stronger body, while in a dirty bulk your goal is to get as big and strong as you can, not really caring how you look in the end.
A clean bulk consists of healthy calories. Keeping up lean meats, fish, rice, veggies and more, but keeping only healthy choices. Staying away from bad fats and fried foods. The main goal is to eat eat eat, but doing so healthily. You won't get stronger without eating more and more.
A dirty bulk can be seen as more of the "see-food" diet, as in you see food and you eat it. Taking in the maximum amount of calories you possibly can, not really caring about the health benefits. You will get bigger and you will get stronger.
Neither bulking phase will work without a hard, strict workout plan. You eat, workout, eat, grow, repeat.
